I was working this year and missed our annual tradition. But I love the fact that we gather as a family to make a recipe that has been handed down through our family for generations. It always means that Christmas is not too far away….. Seasons Greetings !

For as far back as I can remember on a Saturday or Sunday in November or early December we have gathered together as a family unit to prepare the Christmas pudding for the festive season ahead.  Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Grandparents, Great Grandparents all gathered together around the kitchen table working as one.  Our family has always observed the tradition of mixing in old silver coins and charms that we have kept from times gone by.  They are divided amoungst the gathered and we each in turn make wishes for the season and year ahead.  It is a very special tradition I personally cherish.

According to my mamma this recipe goes back for 6 generations that she is aware of and is passed onto me and my siblings and cousins as the 7th.  Our ancestors came from various places across the globe, but this recipe most likely came from the English…
